Indexhibit Help

Tools/Edit button

Each media thumbnail has a trash and a tools button underneath it.

Clicking the trash button deletes that specific media file.

Clicking the tools button will show a modal pop-up window with which you have access to a variety of options.
You can edit the title and caption as well as add tags (more about tags in the Tags page) .

After editing titles and captions make sure you click the Update button
- changes will not be saved if you don't!

The Cover image link will allow you to attach custom thumbnail images to your media assets - these images can be different from the original thumbnails of your media files.
For example you can have parts or details of your images as thumbnails.
Note that sound media files need cover images by default.

Clicking the view source file link will give you a preview of the raw file that you uploaded in a new browser window or tab.

Clicking the Insert image or Insert file will insert a piece of code in the text box area of your exhibit, like:

< media:mov 'movie.mov', 600, 400 />
< media:mp3 'sound.mp3', 'mp3 title' />
< media:gimg 'image.jpg' />

This is a code representation of the media file (or hook) that you uploaded and can be used anywhere you like in your indexhibit site.

By default a media/asset file is Active - this means that it will show up as part of the exhibit format.
You can change this by clicking the Inactive radio button and then the Update button.
The media file will be usable but it wont show up as part of your page (it is easy to spot an inactive media file by the red border around its thumbnail).

This is useful when you want to use images in your site but you do not want them to be part of the exhibit format, for example a website logo etc.
For example upload the image of your logo, click the Inactive radio button and then the Update button. Click Insert image, close the the pop up window. Then cut/paste the code from the text box area, into the Pre-Nav Text area.

Video, Sound, YouTube and Vimeo

Video files have a width/height setting which will be the size the movie shown on your site.
Type in the desired dimensions, hit the Update button and you're done!

Sound files need a cover image.
In order to display the sound player you must insert the sound file as code (from the Insert file link).
Then they can be cut/pasted anywhere in your site - even into an image caption text box!

You can also embed/include vimeo and youtube videos in your Indexhibit site.

Once you enable the vimeo and youtube plugins (check the Plugins page about this), a vimeo and a youtube button will show up right next to the Upload button.

Clicking the vimeo button will bring up a pop-up window.
In the File text box you will need to paste the number of the vimeo url that you want to embed - for example if the url is http://vimeo.com/12345 then paste 12345 in the File text box.
Then fill out a width and height for your vimeo and click the Submit button.
Your vimeo wil now show up in your uploaded media assets - you can reorder, delete or edit its details.

Clicking the youtube button will also show a pop-up window.
In the File text box you will need to paste the specific part of the youtube url that you want to embed - for example if the url is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1234abc then paste 1234abc in the File text box.
Fill out a width and height for your vimeo and click the Submit button.
Your youtube video wil appear in your media assets.
