Indexhibit Help

Splash Page

A splash page is a static html page and a site feature that can be used in many ways - as an introduction page, a linked page that redirects to multi-language sites etc.
To do this you will need a code editor, an FTP application of your choice and basic html coding skills.

Using the code editor create a basic html file structure, for example:

< html>
< head>
< title>Welcome!< /title>
< /head>
< body>
< h1>Wellcome!< /h1>
< a href="/index.php">Click here to see my Indexhibit site< /a>
< /body>
< /html>

Save the file as index.html and upload to the root directory of your server - most servers will use the index.html as a landing page for your domain by default.

Entering your domain name in your web-browser will now show Welcome! followed by a link that will redirect you to your Indexhibit site (if installed in the root directory of your server).
Of course you can customize the code, add a background image or custom css to suit your needs.

A splash page is also handy when building a multilingual Indexhibit site. In this case though you need to include a separate hyperlink, one for each language site, like:

< html>
< head>
< title>Welcome!< /title>
< /head>
< body>
< h1>Wellcome!< /h1>
< a href="/lang1/index.php">English language site< /a>
< a href="/lang2/index.php">Klingon language site< /a>
< /body>
< /html>
